Chiropractic Insights: Rethinking Aging and Movement

Introduction: Why This Matters
Walk down any street and you’ll see it.

People hunched over.
Moving slowly.
Relying on walking sticks or frames.

And most people accept it as normal—“just part of getting older.”

But then you also see something else:

People in their 60s, 70s, even 80s… moving well, staying active, living fully.

So which one is normal?

This question sits at the heart of my journey into chiropractic and the work I do today in Artarmon—helping people reduce pain, move better, and realise that small, consistent changes can transform their health and their lives.

Chapter 1: A Traditional Path That Didn’t Fit
I started on what you’d call a “traditional path.”

School, expectations, the idea of a conventional career—possibly even medicine.

But something didn’t sit right.

I was always curious about people—how they think, how they feel, how they move. I was often told I was an “old soul,” and I found myself drawn to understanding others in a deeper way.

At the same time, I felt let down by the system. It didn’t nurture that curiosity—it tried to standardise it.

And that created a turning point.

Chapter 2: The Shift
Instead of forcing myself into a path that didn’t fit, I started following what genuinely interested me.

That meant stepping outside the expected route and into learning:

Massage therapy

Personal training

Kinesiology

Psychology and organisational behaviour

Business and law

Personal development

Neurolinguistic programming and communication

This wasn’t a straight line. It was a process of exploration.

But each step added a layer of understanding about the human body, behaviour, and health.

Chapter 3: Discovering Chiropractic
Eventually, that path led me to chiropractic.

And it made sense.

Because chiropractic isn’t just about pain—it’s about how the body functions, adapts, and moves through life.

What stood out to me was this:

Small, targeted changes can create significant shifts in how someone feels and functions.

Not overnight miracles—but consistent, meaningful progress.

Chapter 4: What Makes My Approach Different
Many chiropractors follow a single educational pathway.

My approach is built on a broader base of experience:

5+ years in massage, personal training, and kinesiology

5 years of chiropractic training

Psychology and behavioural understanding

Business and real-world life experience

This allows me to look at people differently—not just where it hurts, but why it’s happening and how it connects to their life.

Chapter 5: The Power of Small Changes
One of the biggest misconceptions about health is that it requires massive, dramatic action.

In reality:

Small, consistent changes create the biggest long-term results.

Improving posture slightly

Moving a little more each day

Addressing dysfunction early

Building awareness of your body

These “small shifts” compound—and over time, they change everything.

Chapter 6: Rethinking Ageing
We’ve been conditioned to believe:

Pain is normal

Stiffness is inevitable

Decline is unavoidable

But that’s not entirely true.

Look at communities practicing things like Tai Chi or regular group movement.
Look at older athletes still performing at high levels.

The difference isn’t age.

It’s behaviour, consistency, and care.

Health isn’t just for the young.

Wellness is available at every stage of life.

Chapter 7: Why Take Action Now
Most people wait until something goes wrong.

But by then, the problem has often been building for years.

Taking action earlier means:

Less pain

Better movement

Greater independence later in life

The goal isn’t just to feel better today—it’s to protect your future self.

Conclusion: What’s Possible
You don’t need a complete life overhaul.

You need:

Awareness

Consistency

The right guidance

Because small changes, applied consistently, can dramatically improve how you live, move, and feel.
